Steve McCurry exhibition in Perugia up to the 5th of September

The highly acclaimed American photographer Steve McCurry will be showing his works in the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria from April 11th to September 5th following the success of his Milan show which attracted over 120,000 visitors.
McCurry began studying film history cinematography and filmmaking at Penn State in 1968, but ended up getting a degree in theater arts and graduating cum laude in 1974. He became very interested in photography when he started taking pictures for the Penn State newspaper called The Daily Collegian.
McCurry's most recognized photo is that of "Afghan Girl", a previously unidentified Afghan refugee. The image itself was named as "the most recognized photograph" in the history of the National Geographic magazine and her face became famous as the cover photograph on the June 1985 issue. The photo has also been widely used on Amnesty International brochures, posters, and calendars. The identity of the "Afghan Girl" remained unknown for over 15 years until McCurry and a National Geographic team located the woman, Sharbat Gula, in 2002.
the exhibition was divided into six sections: beauty, children, joy, silence and travel, the other and war.

I love Umbria jazz, even if now tha I have children it is difficult to see conterts, especially in the night!

The Umbria Jazz Festival is considered by many jazz musicians and aficionados to be, quite simply the best in the world. The spectacular setting and ambiance of Perugia, the stunning venues like the Teatro Morlacchi and the Arena Santa Giuliana, the two free outdoor stages, and the world-class talent that assembles every year make it a jazz lover s dream.

When not enjoying the great jazz, there will be plenty of time to explore the city of Perugia and its breathtaking environs, with expert local guides. Excursions include the nearby cities of Assisi - with its extraordinary frescoes by Giotto in the Basilica di San Francesco, and Orvieto - where the Duomo is one of the greatest Gothic buildings in all Italy. Hello,
I am Raffaella, the owner of country farm "la volpe e l'uva" and the organizer of the programs of "Let's Cook in Umbria”.
I have been living here since 1996, with my husband who is a musician, and our two children.

The idea of this project was born thanks to my love for the region of Umbria, its products and traditions.
My goal is to offer an unforgettable holiday in central Italy that combines Italian food, art, and our local culture, an holiday during which people can live in a nice and comfortable apartment surrounded by Umbrian hills, discover the secrets of our traditional cooking and enjoy of the artistic richness of our wonderful region!
Our programs include accomodation, cooking classes, half-day tours and meals. You will deal with the professionalism of people in an informal and friendly environment.
Our approach to cooking can be wrapped up in three words - simple, seasonal, and local. Our recipes come from the Mediterranean tradition, especillay form central Italy (Umbria and Tuscany), but we revised a little the original recipes to obtain more healthy foods!
I love recipes that are simple but with great results; some of my favorite recipes have less than 5 or 6 ingredients and can be prepared in less than 1 hour.

Simplicity, fantasy and attention are the mainly ingredients in our classes, and they are the base of of the pleasure of cooking together. The programs on my pages are very flexible and people interested can ask me for changes, i.e. the length of the vacation, the number of cooking lessons and the number and type of excursions.

We can plan together your personal holiday! I personally answer to your email! My presence in the farm is a guarantee for the success of your holiday! The first years of work in this project have been full of satisfactions, as you can see from the testimonials page!
